Nomination Process

HOW DOES THE NOMINATION PROCESS WORK?

Our goal is to identify the most influential individuals and ecosystem players from the Austrian startup ecosystem. We want to identify authentic contributions that have had a positive impact on the startup ecosystem in our country.

PHASE 1: OPEN NOMINATIONS & REGISTRATION

The AAA starts with a one month public nomination phase in December 2020. During this time “anyone can nominate anybody”. Therefore, nominators have the opportunity to record a short video - “60 seconds of awesomeness” - in which another person is nominated for one of the award categories. This video must then be uploaded to the AAA nomination tool together with some general information about the nominee.
It would be awesome if the nominator shares this video on social media with the #awesomenessaward2020 to help us spread the message of the award even further. In this case do not forget to mark both AustrianStartups and the nominee!

Recording a convincing video in just 60 seconds? – It’s possible. A guide on how to successfully nominate someone:

  • The video must last a maximum of 60 seconds.
  • You can record it with your smartphone camera. Probably the easiest and fastest way.
  • Cover these questions in your video:
  • Who is the nominee
  • What is his/her current role?
  • What has he/she accomplished in 2020?
  • Why should he/she win the AAA?

Once the nominator finishes his/her part of the nomination process, the nominee receives an email with the title “CONGRATULATIONS! You are awesome and have been nominated for the AustrianStartups Awesomeness Award”. This email contains the “Accept-Nomination-Button”: Here the nominee can create a profile on the competition platform and fill out the general registration form. By pressing the button, the terms & conditions for the participation of the award are also accepted.

In the next section, the nominees have to answer a short questionnaire for the category they have been nominated for. This information is needed in order to make a well-founded decision about the shortlisting for the respective category.

Please note that the nomination should be based on the following principle: The AAA wants to honor especially those people, who have a positive impact on the Austrian startup ecosystem and maybe have not yet received the recognition they deserve. Think about “hidden stars and heroes”.

PHASE 2: SHORTLISTING & ANNOUNCEMENT

Based on the information from the video and the questionnaire, the AAA-crew consults with the AustrianStartups Advisory-Board to determine the top 3 nominations in each award category (shortlisting). After selection, the 3 best nominations will be announced as finalists of the AAA on the AustrianStartups websites and social media channels. These people will then run for the title in their category.

PHASE 3: JURY SELECTION

The jury consists of selected members and experts of the AustrianStartups Board. Their task will be to rank each finalist according to the information presented to them. This information is obtained directly from the nominator (video) and nominee (questionnaire). As a neutral non-profit-organization, AustrianStartups wants to highlight achievements within the AustrianStartup Ecosystem. We make no claim to completeness and can only consider persons nominated by the community.

PHASE 4: ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE WINNERS

In February 2020, we will announce the winners from our 5 categories. The form in which we will hand over the prizes is still a secret. One thing is clear, however: it’s going to be awesome :)
